Wii Power Problems
Most power issues with the Wii can be fixed by resetting the AC adapter. This is done by unplugging the Wii AC adapter at both ends – so that it is not connected to either the back of the Wii system or the mains power. Leave the adapter unplugged for at least 2 minutes and also unplug and remove all accessories from the system. After 2 minutes, connect the adapter back to a power supply – without any surge protector. The power light should now come on.
If the system plays for awhile, but then shuts off on its own then follow the checklist below to identify the problem:
* If the power keeps switching off then it is likely that overheating may be the problem. Check that both the word “Wii” and the model number “RVL-002 (USA)” are molded into the AC adapter. If they are not then they are not fully compatible and should be replaced with properly licenced products. If you have any unlicenced products attached to your console, remove them and reset the adapter as described above.
* Ensure that all accessories are in good order and that there are no wires that are frayed or housing that are cracked. Remove damamged products and reset the adapter.
* Ensure that the Wii has good ventilation. It is best to avoid operating the Wii on carpet. Check that the vents on the console are clear and clean. Remove any dust build up by lightly vacuuming.
